Christmas Baking. Day 9. Cookie #24. Mama's Pound Cake Cookies.

While rummaging through my recipes, I came across a bunch of Mama Hawthorne's hand-written 3 x 5 recipe cards. I picked out her recipe for Pound Cake Cookies.
Ingredients for Pound Cake Cookies: 2 1/2 sticks butter 1 cup sugar 2 egg yolks 3 cups sifted flour (Sift before measuring.) 1 tsp vanilla pecans Cream butter for about 2 minutes. Add sugar in gradually, beating on high for 3 minutes. Add egg yolks, beating. Lower speed and add in flour slowly. Add in vanilla. Drop by teaspoonful on ungreased cookie sheet. Press a pecan half on top. Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes until just slightly brown.
I creamed the butter for about 2 minutes on high.
Gradually add sugar and continue beating for 3 minutes.
Beat in yolks.
Add in vanilla.
Reduce speed and slowly add in flour.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased trays.
Press in a pecan half.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes, until lightly browned.
And it is reminiscent of pound cake.
