The Rosiethon. Day 3. Jo's Sugar Cookies.

These are my favorite Sugar Cookies.
The addition of nutmeg raises these cookies to a new level.

Jo's Sugar Cookies

2 sticks butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp salt
3/4 cup salad oil
1 tsp vanilla
4 cups + 4TB flour  Sift before measuring.
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar

colored sugars
freshly grated nutmeg

Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Cream butter and both sugars together.
Beat eggs with salt and add to creamed mixture.
Add oil and vanilla.
Add dry ingredients and mix well.
Refrigerate dough.
Roll into small balls.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Press balls down with the bottom of a glass dipped in a mixture of sugar and nutmeg.
Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

Beat eggs with salt.

Add beaten eggs to creamed mixture.

Add in oil.
Turn beater to low and add in sifted flour mixture.

I grated fresh nutmeg in with colored sugars.

 Roll dough into small balls
and press with a glass dipped in the sugar and nutmeg.

Enjoy!

I love nutmeg in sugar cookies. My great-grandma's recipe uses nutmeg!
