Mr. Hawthorne Makes Hash Browns.

Sunday morning, Mr. Hawthorne made Sunny Anderson's
 less-than-stellar potato pancakes.
They sounded good in theory,
they looked really good in execution,
but there's always that pesky flavor/taste component,
and Ms. Anderson's pancakes
were sorely lacking in that department.
The bacon, surprisingly to me,
added nothing I liked to the pancakes,
and actually detracted from them,
and the sage was wasted on them.
They really weren't very good.
Period.
After eating Sunny's potatoes
I was jonesin' for some of Mr. Hawthorne's hash browns.
And yesterday morning, he obliged.
First he grated a potato onto a paper towel.
Then he blotted the potato slices
to get as much moisture out as he could.
He slid the potato slices into the hot oil ...
... and fried them until
wonderfully crispy and brown.
Drain on paper towels,
 season with salt and pepper,
and serve.
These were crunchy morsels
of delectiblity.

Well, you can never go wrong with deep fried food! I happen to adore rosemary with potatoes. I would think that sage would be a bit too timid for hash browns.
