The Hawthornes Entertain.

   Rosie has guests this afternoon.
XKT is visiting with the Hawthornes
and Glowria and her friend Brutus joined us
for drinks and hors d'oeuvres.
As always, names have been changed to protect the guilty.

I'm making three very quick, easy, and tasty appetizers:
a Triscuit with smoked salmon and cream cheese,
homemade salsa,
and a spicy hot cheese dip.

This is one of my favorite appetizers.
A Triscuit with cream cheese, a slice of cucumber,
and smoked salmon
(I Semi-Ho'd it with Salmolux),
 topped with chopped red onion,
freshly ground pepper, capers, and fresh dill.

I love all the flavors in this.

Glowria loves seeing herself on the World Wide Web.
Notice her hand on the cheese dip.
She ain't givin' it up.

I also made a cheese dip which Glow grabbed for herself
and wouldn't let anyone else have.

4 ounces Velvet cheese
2 ounces cream cheese
1/2 can Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies
Nuke until melted and hot.

We had a fresh salsa Mr. Hawthorne made.
Peeled, seeded, and juiced tomatoes,
1/2 can Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies
chopped red onion, minced jalapeno,
cilantro, sugar, rice vinegar, salt and pepper.
Adjust amounts to your tastes.

Mmmmm, Glow?
The dip goes on the chips,
not on your chest.

Glow declined Brutus' gracious offer
to help her clean her shirt.

Glow wore a bib for the rest of the evening.

We were all waiting for Glow to do another face plant in the dip.
She's been known to do that in our cooking classes.

Glowria is sporting hot lizard-skin boots.

Thanks, you crazy kids, for stopping by.
Enjoyed it!

As my family would say, they can't take me anywhere (in regards to food drippage on shirts).
