Mr. Hawthorne Stir Fries.

It's lunch at the Happy Hawthornes'!

Mr. Hawthorne is stir frying
 thoughtfully and purposefully.

We bought chicken at the Teeter for less than nothing.

As I said, Mr. H. is in command.
He's making a sauce for his chicken:
3 TB Mr. Hawthorne's sourwood honey
1 TB sweet chili sauce
2 TB teriyaki sauce
1 TB rice vinegar
1 TB minced pickled ginger
zest of one orange

corn starch slurry
(1-2 TB cornstarch dissolved in 1/4 cup cold water.)

Zest away, Mr. Hawthorne.

He added the cornstarch slurry to the sauce.

He sliced some celery.

Carrots.
Broccoli.

Red pepper.

When stir frying,
have all your veggies the same size
so they cook in the same amount of time.
Chop the chicken into bite-sized pieces.

Mr. Hawthorne heated the wok over high heat
and added a scant swirl of oil.
Veggies went in.
Time: 12:48.

Stir and fry.

Keep the veggies moving.

Time:  12:49
Mr. Hawthorne poured in a little vegetable stock
for a quick steam bath.

Remove vegetables to a bowl and cover.

Mr. Hawthorne wiped the wok out,
returned it to high heat,
gave it a swirl of peanut oil,
heated it up,
and added in the chicken.
Time:  12:51

Time:  12:53
Add in the veggies.

Time:  12:53
Mr. Hawthorne added the sauce and cornstarch slurry
down the side of the wok.

Let sauce thicken.
Time:  12:54
And we're done!

I added a little extra orange zest.

Stir fries are quick and easy.

And so pretty!
And they taste really good.
