Youngest Hawthorne brought me
a lovely handful of flowers.
For Mother's Day.
On Monday.
I hope the flowers didn't set
you back too much.
; )
I love my chilluns.
Reminds me of Mama Hawthorne's
birthday 2-3 years ago.
I went around the house
and picked out
items of hers that had been in place
for 50+ years.
I've always imagined
a police outline
around all of Mama's stuff.
It's been the same forever.
Whenever I went into Mama's house,
I would always move something.
A picture frame.
A lamp.
A candle stick.
Anything I could possibly find.
I knew she would immediately notice it
and get ticked off.
I messed with her just like I mess with Mr. H.
He hates for things to be askew.
I'm the consummate askewer.
Anyways,
I wrapped up her stuff for that birthday.
About a dozen pieces of her tchotchkes.
Throughout the house.
Mama started unwrapping her birthday gifts
and realized what I'd done.
She got a kick out of it.
I would ask her
as she opened each present,
"Where would you like me to put this?"
And she would tell me exactly
on the police outline
where to put it.
Good times.
You sound like a fun child (or a child who needs a parent with a firm sense of humor).
ReplyDeleteGee, so what's it like? Getting mother's day presents?
