Road Trip.

Well, we made it to Asheboro today. We left at 8:30 this morning and got to Asheboro about 1:15 and had a meh lunch at some Hibachi Grill and buffet in Asheboro. Note: Don't believe that a packed parking lot is any indication of the quality of the restaurant. As I've learned, most people have a taste for shit. It wasn't all that bad. Just mediocre. However, when I go to an Asian restaurant, I expect Asian food. Not a salad bar. Not pizza. Not a jello buffet. Not mac and cheese. Not prime rib that looked questionable. Not potatoes. Not fried chicken. Not a spinach casserole. Not garlic bread. Not an ice cream machine which does NOT serve ice cream in any way, shape, or form. It's chemicals mixed with water. I know. I used to work at one of those places and it's disgusting what goes into the machines. And it's even more disgusting how they are "cleaned" out. This place had it all. We've been to the North Carolina Zoo, and seen the African exhibit, and the wonderful orchid exhibit, and we've gone to the Pisgah Covered Bridge. Don't know whether Mr. H. will want to go back to the zoo again tomorrow and take in the North American exhibit. He was fairly testy today, complaining about the 92 degree heat, whining and bitching, and threatening to leave and go wait in the truck. The man can be tiresome at times. I so wanted to upload my pictures and blog about this but we're staying at the Hampton Inn and the wifi service here absolutely sucks. I can't even upload one picture. Tomorrow we head for Marion. Hopefully the internet service will be better there. Right now, I'm quite surly. I've sneezed about 100 times today, I have a terrific sinus headache, I can't breathe, and I'm friggin' hungry. Oh, and to top it off, when we left the Pisgah Covered Bridge, ADT called me to let me know the alarm was going off at home. Just fucking GREAT! Apparently it was in the laundry room where there's a sensor on the floor which will set off the alarm if any water is leaking. Now, I know for a fact, that Youngest Hawthorne ain't gonna be doin' no washin', so I'm worrying about the water heater which is right next to the washing machine and I'm stressing that the pipes have burst (It's happened before.) and water is pouring from upstairs into the light sockets in the kitchen ceiling and an electrical fire will start and my house will burn down. Called Youngest Hawthorne who was actually in the neighborhood and he went home and checked it out. No water. No nothing. This sucks. I'm comforting myself now with a plastic cup of Shiraz and White Cheddar Cheese crackers brought from home.
Great! I finally uploaded 1 picture. My supper tonight. Took me 5 friggin' minutes to upload!

Whew! I hope your first day isn't an omen of the days to come. Have another cup of wine. Or 2.

Hugs! Things can only get better. Repeat it with me...

And I've often found that the best restaurants are underapreciated, which worries me as they may not stay in business for me.
