Day 3 Of Rosie's Christmas Baking - Toffee Bars.

Let's just jump to the core. The toffee bars.
The pictures.
More pictures.
Rosie is making Toffee Bars today.
Toffee Bars 1 cup unsalted butter, softened 1 cup packed brown sugar 1 egg yolk 1 tsp vanilla extract 2 cups flour 1 cup chopped walnuts, divided 1 1/4 cups Nestle's Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels (I never use store brand chocolate chips. The Food Lion brand is inferior to Nestle's. Not even in the same ball park.) Beat butter, brown sugar, yolk, and vanilla in large mixer bowl until creamy. Stir in flour and 1/2 cup walnuts. Spread evenly into a greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 25-30 minutes, until lightly browned. Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over base. Let stand for 5 minutes, then spread chocolate over surface. Sprinkle with remaining walnuts. Cool completely. Chill. Cut into bars.
Brown sugar going into the creamed butter.
Yolk joining the party.
Remember. Use the good vanilla.
Flour in.
Finally the nuts.
I used wax paper to press and spread the dough out evenly.
My mini rolling pin helps out a lot. You know, whenever I would visit the Sandy forums at Television Without Pity and I would read about Brycer's wee rolling pin, I always thought it was a euphemism. Then, I sadly found out that Brycer did indeed own a little rolling pin.
Ready for baking.
After baking, immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over top and let sit for 5 minutes ...
... before spreading.
Sprinkle remaining walnuts over top. Let cool. Chill before cutting into bars.
I'm sorry. I couldn't pick out a best picture.
So you get 'em all.
